Connecting a TV

Connect a television or streaming player to your own Magpie library.

Before you start

Connect your television or streaming device to the same home network.

Connect the TV

Open Magpie on your TV.
Install Magpie on the TV the way Downloads shows for your platform, then open it.
Connect to your home’s server.
Follow the player’s connection screen. If it displays an approval code, keep that screen open.
Approve the matching device.
In the server console, open Broadcasting → Devices. Enter the TV’s code and choose Approve, or approve its matching request under Waiting to Be Approved.

Confirm the request is from your own television before approving it.

Check playback

Open On Demand, choose a title you recognize and play it. Check picture, sound and the remote’s pause control. To watch channels, open the Guide and choose a channel configured on your server.

Check

You can play a title, pause it and return to the library using the TV remote.

If it will not connect

Check that the server is running and both devices are on the same network. A guest Wi-Fi network can isolate the TV from your server. Check the console for a request waiting for approval.

If playback fails after connecting, try another title and include the device model and error when reporting the problem.
